Restoring the natural balance

Our clinic specializes in the treatment of patients with thyroid disorders, diabetes and osteoporosis.

Endocrinology is a branch of medicine that treats conditions and diseases of the endocrine system, or the glandular organs that make your hormones. Your glands moderate and control certain activities in your body, including reproduction, metabolism, growth and development.

Gestational diabetes

Approximately four percent of all pregnant women are affected by gestational diabetes. Pregnancy hormones from the placenta can block the mother's insulin from transporting sugar through the mother's body. When insulin production is blocked, both mother and baby's bodies start overcompensating, which can lead to health problems for both. The good news is, gestational diabetes is treatable and usually subsides after baby is born.

Insurance

We are currently contracted with most major insurance carriers. We ask that you bring your insurance card with you as we will take a copy for our billing department.

Medical questions and problems

Our clinic uses MyChart, a secure internet based communication tool, as our primary means of non-urgent communication. You will be given the choice to sign up for this useful tool. However, please continue to contact the front office with any emergent issues and a message will be sent to your provider as soon as possible.

Missed appointments/cancellations

We are committed to providing quality medical care throughout our community. We require 24 hours notice of cancellation if you are unable to keep your appointment. Once established, if you fail to show, are late, or cancel two appointments within 12 months, we will no longer serve as your physician. We do our best to stay on schedule so we ask that you allow for possible traffic delays, knowing we reserve the right to reschedule your appointment if you arrive more than 10 minutes late. Unfortunately, there are no exceptions.

Medications and refills

The types of medications prescribed for you are ones that our physicians feel would be of most benefit to your condition. Many insurance companies place limitations on what they will cover. We will do our best to work within those guidelines, but please understand your insurance company may not cover all prescribed medicines.

Please contact your pharmacy directly and allow 72 hours notice when you need a refill of your medicines.

Relationship with your physician

Our doctors are happy to provide an endocrinology consultation to you at the request of your primary care physician. We will work with your primary care physician to make sure that your greater health goals are met. This relationship makes sure your endocrinology needs are integrated into the management of your other health issues. If you change primary care physicians, please let the office know so that your endocrine care can be relayed to your new provider.

Referrals

Many insurance companies now require referrals for you to see specialists, have certain tests, or receive other forms of treatment. It is important that authorizations be in place prior to your receiving the appropriate care. Most referrals take 72 hours to process, but there are occasions where it can take longer. Also, just because we submit a referral does not mean the approval will be granted. We always suggest you check directly with your insurance company so you understand your benefits and confirm which providers participate with your plan.
